Just heard SWV’s new single “Co-sign” on necolebitchie.com. Listening to it, made me think it was 90′s r&b all over again. Happy to hear they’ve reunited to make another album. SWV gave us hits like “Right Here”, “Weak” and “Rain” during the 90′s. (All of which I consider classics in my book.) Now the ladies are all grown up, singing about being wives and mothers with kids. (Now if we could just get En vouge to reunite and make another album)…..In case you haven’t heard SWV’s latest song, check out the video below:

Nicki Minaj: Doing the MOST!

I’m convinced that Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj are running neck and neck on who can be the weirdest. For me it’s one thing to be different and make a statement by not following the crowd, but it’s another thing to push the envelope and cause unnecessary controversy.

Watching Nicki Minaj’s Grammy performance of “Roman Holiday” has me doubting her creativity on this up and coming album due in April.What happen to the Nicki Minaj from Pink Friday who was out to prove that there are legit female rappers who are about their business and earning respect in the rap game?

Does anyone else feel that Nicki is putting on an act, just to get attention? Her first album pretty much spoke for itself and the music did what it was supposed to, without her being over the top. (Granted she’s been “extra” since day one) I feel like anytime an artist feels the need to put on an act, then essentially they’re taking away from their music and their talent.

Because now the focus isn’t the music anymore, the focus is what crazy act will Nicki do next? Not to mention “Roman Holiday” and “Stupid Hoe” have fallen flat in living up to any of Nicki’s previous singles from Pink Friday. I’ve said it before in previous posts, but my question still remains: how will these crazy acts and antics translate into a career of longevity for her? What is she really relying on to keep her career alive? Right now it seems that everything she’s doing is simply a gimmick to gain attention, but the talent behind it all isn’t as sincere as I thought before. If you take away all her wigs, the make up, the clothing and her alter egos, then what would be left?

Wolf Blizter and Jacksonville Mayor Alvin Brown Chat on UNF Green

Just when I thought all the media had packed up their bags and left UNF to return to their normal lives, I realized it wasn’t over. I was walking by the green and noticed that CNN was still here, I couldn’t miss their huge bus parked outside on the grass. I saw a crowd of students and I walked over to see what they were looking at. Turns out, Wolf Blitzer was still doing some broadcasting. He even managed to hug and take pictures with a few students once he was finished with his segment.

But it gets better, as Blitzer is walking back towards the CNN bus on the green, he runs into Mayor Alvin Brown, and the two began to chat. I’m not talking about a simple hello, goodbye, but they talk as if they’ve been friends for years. Brown even introduces Blitzer to his publicist and the two men end up exchanging contact information.

When they were done talking, Blitz returned back to the tent for more filming and Brown hung around a few more minutes to take pictures with a small crowd of UNF students who had gathered around. (Even me!)

kimbella from Love and Hip Hop

Season 2 of Love and Hip Hop had me hooked! I feel like maybe it had to do with the new edition of Yandy and Kimbella. They both proved to be fresh faces that kept everyone wondering what they were going to do next. These girls both found themselves in some nasty situations, whether it was Yandy and Chrissy or Kimbella and Erica. If you were anything like me, you often shook your head at these two women wondering what they could have possibly been thinking when they made some of the decisions they made. But part of me also feels that, because they were newcomers to the show, a lot about them had already been prejudged by earlier cast members from season 1.

Anywho, I saw a post on Necolebitchie about Kimbella and I had to share the link. I feel like maybe this interview might help shed some light on her side of the story, which often wasn’t as prominently expressed on the show itself.

2 unf students are proactive in trying to get more college students to vote. They’ve been passing out t-shirts all day on the green with the slogan “My world…my fight!”
