This morning as I put on my UNF student reporter t-shirt, there was a piece of me that felt official and ready for this Republican debate. I still can’t believe how this debate will take place in my own backyard and I will be in the midst to observe the spectacle and the mayhem.
I’ve stated before I’m not a fan of politics, but there’s an excitement buzzing on my campus that I can’t seem to ignore. I know to some, the debate isn’t as relevant and for those people it may seem a near annoyance today. But for me, this is an opportunity to get some experience in and soak it all up!
I’m beyond thankful for the opportunity my journalism class has afforded me. In case you missed my previous post, today I will be participating in a live blog feed for Jacksonville.com. It’s the website for Jacksonville’s local newspaper The Florida Times Union. The link is called “Cover it Live” and once I’ve had a chance to post my blog, it will appear on the website with my name in a byline. Also the podcast that we have been assigned for class, will appear on NPR tomorrow morning during their segment called “Media Roundtable” Later tonight we will be getting help with editing and uploading them for NPR’s Karen Feagans who will pick the few she thought were the best.
Also I will be tweeting away today. (While in class none the less from 12:15-4:20) Look for hashtags: #JaxDebate #CNNdebates #UNFdebates and follow me @5starsassy on twitter.
